Winter can be the easiest time to be a little slack with your beauty regime… here are some quick tips to get you back on track…remember – you only have one skin in this lifetime – take care of it!
1. Always, always, always wear sunscreen. I think I may repeat this over and over on this blog, but look at sunscreen as your best anti-aging preventative method! Even in winter, on blustery overcast days, the UV rays can get through! A product like Mario Badescu’s Hyaluronic Moisturiser with SPF 15 locks in skin’s natural moisture and it’s antioxidant Vitamin A based peanut oil nourishes the skin. It’s non-greasy and a perfect base under your make-up!
2. Oil is your friend! There are some fantastic oil-based products (most of them organic) that can replenish your skin overnight, leaving it soft and supple every morning. Trilogy’s pure rose-hip oil is a great night time moisturiser and won’t leave your skin feeling oily. Avocado oil, almond oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil… they’re all brilliant natural moisturisers. Most can be found at your local health food store. Oil’s are so versatile. Cleaners, Exfoliators and moisturisers – start experimenting with what you can do with them!
3. Try to avoid over-drying with extremely hot showers and baths…this will only dry out your skin and over stimulate your blood vessels. Try to keep them a medium temperature and use a nourishing body wash!
4. When it comes to your foundation, you may have to choose a colour one shade lighter during winter. Or you could mix two shades together to customise your own colour. Because our skin naturally becomes drier in winter, you want to choose a foundation that has some moisturising qualities to it.
5. Dry lips are the worst! Something with shea butter, olive oil or paw paw cream seem to work the best. The trusty old chap stick is also worth a try!
